JC WHITNEY: SUSPENSION & CHASSIS

Air springs

Experience the power of air.

Trucks Air might be light, but when it's forced into cylinders, it can move mountains. If you're hauling serious loads in your truck, air springs are a must. You won't bottom out, and your suspension won't wimp out. Your truck's ride will feel the same whether you're driving empty or with a full payload, and you'll have complete control over the height of your truck.

Cars Now, there're three reasons you'd want to hookup air springs in you car:

  • Reason number one: you want to impress the ladies
  • Reason number two: you've got racing tires and need more clearance
  • Reason number three: you've got mad horsepower and want more control

Who are we kidding? We all know that reasons two and three are still all about the ladies.

Ball joints

The arm bone's connected to the shoulder bone.

Just like your ACL joint, ball joints connect the wheels to the steering. So, if you're looking to replace your ball joints, you've come to the right place. If you've blown your ACL...see a doctor.

Bump stops and suspension bumpers

How low can you go?

When you lower your ride, you have less room to absorb bumps in the road. So, you need high-grade suspension bumpers to help out in a pinch. If your suspension is about to bottom out, they absorb the blow keeping your shocks on the up and up. Or, if you've got a regular-height ride, we've got suspension bumpers to replace your vehicle's original equipment.

Bushings

Absorbing the road, on road and off.

Whether you're an off-road addict, speed racer or heavy hauler, high-performance bushings are a must. Heavy-duty polyurethane bushings absorb more shock, resist greater heat and reduce vibration. What does all this mean? You'll have more control. Of course, if you're just a regular guy looking to replace your bushings, we have an outstanding selection of replacement bushings that meet or exceed your vehicle's requirements.

Camber kits

Turn a triangle into a square.

When you lower your car, your wheels camber in. That means the tops tilt out. These kits correct the tilt, so you'll get more rubber on the road. And, your ride won't look like a greenhorn lowered it.

Coil springs

Gravity ain't got nothin' on these puppies.

Coil springs are the outer dressing of a car or truck's shock absorbers. An integral part of any lift kit or suspension lowering kit, they give your car or truck extra shock absorbency. We have all kinds of coil springs. So, whether you're raising your ride or lowering it, check here to spring into action. We also have replacement coil springs if your current ones have lost their bounce.

Control arms

The name says it all.

If you go off-roading in your Jeep® (and by off-roading we mean more than just the grass on the side of the driveway), you probably see some rough terrain. We've got some high-performance control arms that can take a beating. Because, while you may like driving up mountains, tow trucks don't.

Idler arms

The part you'll only hear about once.

And that's when you look in a book and find out it's the reason your wheels aren't turning. One of the many pieces of the steering puzzle, get your replacement idler arms here.

Leaf springs

They may be called leaf springs, but they don't blow in the wind.

This extra-heavy-duty suspension option helps trucks bump up load capacity, and they also help old muscle cars get the clearance they need for racing wheels. How? Leaf springs are essentially banded pieces of formed metal. So, the metal bends to absorb the road and you don't have to worry about bottoming out.

Leveling kits

Getting seasick on the road.

The factory makes pickups with the front lower than the back. This is great if you're always hauling a load, but when you're not, your truck's butt sits up in the air, and it nosedives when you brake. Front leveling kits do exactly what their name implies — they level the front of your truck. So, your truck won't be crouching like a playful dog and you'll stay level when you brake.

Suspension lift kits

Going up?

Want more clearance for bigger wheels? Perhaps you need to cross streams. Or maybe you just want your truck to look imposing. Threaten those little imports chugging down the street. Whatever brings you to the exciting world of suspension lifts — you'll be seeing the road from a whole new perspective. Lift kits have everything you need to raise your truck, so shop here and you're one step closer to getting on top of the world.

Lowering kits

Get down, get down.

Lowering your car or sport truck does two things. First, you get closer to the ground so you can take turns faster — without sway. Second, your car or truck will look cool. With JC Whitney's lowering kits, you'll get everything you need to lower your car or truck right the first time — and it needs to be done right. Because, when you're closer to the ground, your suspension has less room to absorb bumps. You want to be low, but not so low that you're car's on the ground.

Pitman arms

The real story behind Mr. Pitman.

There are so many tiny replacement parts on the steering system that engineers ran out of snappy names. So, they just started naming them after themselves. Mr. Pitman was an engineering genius that thought there needed to be yet another part on the car that nobody would notice until it broke. He invented a part that connects the tire rod to the center link and named it after himself. He was confident that this nomenclature would assure his place in the history books. Well...he is on our website.

Power steering and gearbox

For the misunderstood off-roaders.

Nobody understands your need for dirt, sand and rock. Your girlfriends don't like the grease on your cloths and the dirt under your nails. And, factory steering gearboxes just aren't made with the right combination of ruggedness and sensitivity. When it comes down to it, that's what you're really looking for. Sensitive steering that's responsive, and durable. Because, what you really need as you're tumbling down a mountainside is to be listened to. Especially by your wheels.

Rack and pinion

New and in the old.

Just because you have a muscle car, doesn't mean you have to have a lot of muscle to make it turn. Technology has changed quite a bit since the glory days of the hot rod. Update your steering with a new rack and pinion system. You'll be driving circles around the muscle-bound competition.

Shocks and struts

Keeping your car afloat.

Shock absorbers are the kingpins of the suspension racket. And, at JC Whitney, we have air shocks, gas shocks, spring shocks, adjustable shocks, self-adjusting shocks, replacement shocks...whatever your little car or truck's suspension desires. So, if you've got a little hot rod that's low to the ground and needs some extra help to prevent bottoming out, we've got it. If you've got a lifted truck that needs that rugged off-road absorbency, we've got it. If you've got a Hyundai and just want to replace your shocks, we've got it. You need it, we've got it.

Steering column shafts

Bumping, tumbling and turning.

When you're rolling down paths that don't exist, bumping off rocks and bouncing off drops, you may develop a little problem with your steering column shaft. After all, when you're sliding right and cranking left and you smash into rock wall and then drop into a ravine, problems tend to popup. This is where you'll find replacement parts for your Jeep's steering column and shaft.

Steering stabilizers and dampeners

Your wheels need to work together.

When you're pushing your vehicle to the max, sometimes you need some help to stay in control. Steering stabilizers and dampeners help your front wheels stay secure. Lets say you're off-roading and you hit a pit — your steering wheel won't jerk. Or, if you're cornering fast and both front wheels want to go in different directions, these handy helpers will straighten things out.

Sway bars and anti-sway bars

All we are is dust in the wind.

When you're driving hard, you want your car on top of a turn, not outside of it. You can't be blowing in the wind. Sway bars and anti-sway bars steady your chassis so your car is rock steady on the hard corners.

Tie rods and sleeves

The last piece of the steering puzzle.

This is absolutely the last name you'll have to remember for your master's degree in steering repair. Tie rods and sleeves tie everything together. They connect the ball joints to the center rod. So, if they break, you no go. Remember, all of our replacement parts meet or exceed manufacturer's requirements.

Traction and torsion bars

Don't let your leafs get shaken out of the tree.

Everybody agrees, leaf springs are the greatest things since the invention of the Slurpee®. But, sometimes they get a little shaky. Traction and torsion bars help settle your car, SUV, Jeep or truck's chassis — eliminating body roll, sway and lean. And, if you've got a little something special under your hood, they'll get rid of your back-wheel hop so you'll be quick on the draw.
